Wendy Sutter
Artistic Director & Founder,
Chamber Music Churchtown
I founded Chamber Music Churchtown to unite my lifelong passion for chamber music with a deep commitment to beauty, harmony, and human connection - values that feel more vital, and essential, than ever.
This festival is grounded by the same principles that shape both chamber music and this place: listening, balance, reciprocity , and stewardship.
It started with a visit.
My sister brought me to Churchtown Dairy last summer.
The moment I stepped onto this land and walked into the magnificent Round Barn, I felt something shift.
Standing in the center of that space– surrounded by hand-plastered walls, radiant light, and the quiet resonance and reverence of the architecture– I was overwhelmed.
I thought to myself :
“This is the most beautiful unintended concert hall I have ever seen.”
In that moment, I knew: this was the place.

This was a place where music could exist in its most essential form– not as performance, but as offering. Not as spectacle, but as connection.
The Dairy– founded by Abby Rockefeller, herself a cellist– is more than a farm. The Churchtown Dairy is a living, breathing ecosystem that mirrors the heart of chamber music: collaboration, balance, care, and preservation.
I put myself to work– and for the last ten months, I have built and designed this festival entirely on my own. From selecting the repertoire for this remarkable space to shaping every backstage detail, each piece has been guided by a deep commitment to bringing this dream to life.
This is more than a concert series.
It is an ecosystem of sound, soil, and soul.
A commitment– to music, to the land, and to one another.
Welcome to Chamber Music Churchtown.
